Galaxy’s Edge Planet Name Announced and Star Tours Major Update Opens

This morning, Walt Disney World announced the name of the planet guests will get the opportunity to visit when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens in 2019. This was announced at the official opening of new scenes from Star Wars: The Last Jedi in the Star Tours attraction.

In Galaxy’s Edge, guests will visit the planet Batuu. This was uncovered by some of the first to ride Star Tours this morning. In the updated ride, your starspeeder ship lands on a mysterious planet, which looks exactly like the concept art we have seen of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Your “flight guide” C-3P0 then says to the audience “Looks like there are more adventures to come.”

The changes to the Star Tours ride video officially started this morning. The ride now takes guests through a battle on the planet, Crait. A planet we have seen many times in The Last Jedi trailers. These changes also include appearances from newer characters like Kylo Ren and Poe Dameron.

I believe this is only the beginning of the integrated promotional content we will see as Disney prepares for 2019 and the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. We are likely to see more of the mysterious planet, Batuu, in attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios soon.
